We are experiencing a massive rise in Internet Censorship across the world. This is mainly attributed to a few massive social media companies like Twitter and Facebook owing 90% of all the internet traffic. So at least on the internet, these companies are extremely powerful! For most people in the developed world the internet is very important where their livelihoods are at stake! These companies are not following the Constitution of the United States Of America.

Amendment I

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

As of now congress has basically made it legal to shut peoples free speech down on the internet. Now many people have been saying “these are private companies and they can do what they want.” But they cannot do this. The reason being, it’s that these companies are acting as public utilities. And that means anyone can use them. Just look at Alex Jones. They got rid of him because he was spreading ” conspiracy and committing hate crimes. They said what he did violated their rules. If he was really a conspiracy theorist , why did they get rid of him? Even Bill Maher a radical liberal said this “If you care about the real American shit or you don’t. And if you do, it goes for every side. I don’t like Alex Jones, but Alex Jones gets to speak.” Everybody gets to speak,” So both sides agree that this is wrong. But look at CNN and other news sources, they have spreaded “conspiracy ” on social media sources like Twitter. Were they banned? No they were not. Social Media Companies even allow very bad pictures and videos on their sites and they are never banned. Like Isis beheading people! Companies like CNN are breaking Twitter rules. But the unfortunate thing is that social media companies ban the people who they do not agree with. The Social Media Companies do not follow their own rules. All the while these companies are stealing our information and selling it illegally, like Facebook was caught doing! And these companies will also not let other new sites start up or they will buy them up. Like the old railroad companies used to do! That is why we are not seeing thousands of different social media companies. So I believe these companies need to be hit with heavy fines and need to be broken up! We should do what Theodore Roosevelt did. A few train companies owned 90 % of the traffic back then, but then old Roosevelt came in and broke up their trusts. We need to break up Crony Capitalism! Now train rates are much lower, due to the trust busting and their is many more companies. The keyword to this is competition! We can do that today as well. We can then see true competition! We can see true free competition and freedom of speech on the Internet! I was even banned at 15 years old on Twitter for violating “their rules”! They never told me the reason why I was banned!
